Dear Tremont Family,
I would like to take this this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Tori Halcón and I am excited to be the new principal of Tremont Elementary. I am delighted to be part of the Tremont community with its rich history in student success. Over the last few weeks, I have been spending a lot of time getting to know the campus, meeting with staff, students, parents, and community members, and learning what makes Tremont such a unique and special place.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 14 years. During this time, my experiences include teaching elementary grades K-6 (except 1st) and middle school for ten years. I was an Instructional Learning Coach for three years where I worked closely with teachers on instructional practices and staff development. Most recently, I have served as an Elementary Assistant Principal and Interim Principal for the last three years. I live in Davis with my family and have three children and one furry friend.
One of the most important aspects of my work as Tremont’s principal is building solid relationships with students, families and teachers. It is very important to me to be in the classrooms, on the playground, and in the community getting to know your children. In my past experience, I have found that youngsters really appreciate a person who genuinely invests in them and who is fair in decision making. These two values are extremely important to me.
In addition to building strong relationships with all of you, it is particularly important to me that you and your children feel safe and connected at school. Communication is paramount in a school. If you ever have a concern about something or a question about a specific situation or procedure, please do not hesitate to call or email your child’s teacher or me.
All of us at Tremont Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever. We will provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant and build positive caring relationships. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors- staff, students, and parents- are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. I thank you in advance for welcoming me as a part of this great community!
